I was originally going to go with painting the matboard. But we found these cool little metal corners that I LOVED on it, and then a frame that was stunning and suddenly this was the best mat color for it.
It's of Odette, swan lake's odette who DIES HORRIBLY at the end (for those of you who aren't interested in the more recent movie version of swan lake). Spoiler spoiler. Anyway, part of a series of tragic figures that I've been enjoying playing with. Young women who generally only have the crime of being in love, or being pretty, or some other harmless thing that apparently warrants their untimely demise.
Done in hand cut paper, bits of crystals, silver chain, metal bits of jewelry that I had fun chopping to pieces, etc. Yes the feathers are hand cut out of paper too. Oh and watercolor for the background and colored pencil for her skin.
I just love it! *w*
